What If I Offer More Than One Pet Service?

You don’t have to be just one thing to get coverage that fits your business. Learn how to cover multiple pet services in our FAQ blog.

Not sure which policy is the best fit? Ask our licensed, U.S.- based customer support team to find the right coverage for what makes your pet care special.

Coverage Limits & Pricing

Your coverage limits determine how much your policy can pay for specific types of accidents during pet care and running your business. Understanding them helps you make sure your PCI policy matches any contract, client, platform, or lease insurance requirements.

We want you to be confident in the coverage you’re buying. Pay special attention to:

  • Per occurrence limit (the most your policy will pay for one incident of that type)
  • Aggregate limit (the most your policy will pay for that type of claim during the whole policy year)

What Pet Business Insurance Doesn’t Cover

Your PCI policy is only designed to cover claims you’re legally required to pay for harm your business causes to others or their pets. Like all liability insurance, there are some things it’s not designed to cover:

  • Injuries to your employees (that’s Workers Comp Insurance)
  • Damage to property you own (that’s Equipment and Inventory Insurance or Commercial Property Insurance), harm to yourself (that’s personal Health Insurance), or harm to your own pets (that’s Pet Insurance)
  • Claims for damage or injuries that aren’t your legal responsibility to pay
  • Unlimited amounts of damage, hospital, vet, or legal fees. All insurance policies have limits they’ll pay for each accident (per occurrence limits) and for the whole year (aggregate limits).
  • Claims filed for Pet Protection Coverage or Veterinarian Reimbursement if they’re filed or the accident occurred within the 7-day waiting period
  • Caring for more than five (5) pets at a time, or for the same pet for over 30 consecutive days (including nights)
  • Anything on the list of coverage exclusions, harm you did on purpose, or illegal activity

Still not sure about a particular pet or service? Our customer support team is always happy to talk through scenarios, so you can feel confident that you’re covered.

Comparing Employee Dishonesty Coverage & Bonding

PCI’s employee dishonesty coverage is similar to a bond, but there may be some key differences to consider.

Employee dishonesty coverage:

  • Can be purchased in the same transaction
  • Doesn’t run credit checks
  • Provides $10,000 per occurrence and $25,000 aggregate coverage

Bonds may differ from our dishonesty coverage by:

  • Checking your credit during the application process
  • Having a “Conviction Claus;” Often bonds won’t pay on claims unless there is a conviction
  • Many require you to reimbursement the bonding company after a claim is paid
